The year is 1926, and Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures. Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident, were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the escape of some of Newt's fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is a prequel to the primary Harry Potter series that takes place in 1926. It was released on November 10, 2016 and currently has a gross revenue of $234,037,575. Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) has just completed an expidition of the world to find and record magical creatures. He briefly stops in New York and mixes up his briefcase with Jacob Kowalski's (Dan Fogler), a muggle, briefcase. Thus begins a journey with the escape of Newt's creatures and a darker twist.

My Review

I personally loved the movie. It had amazing visuals, the cinematography was amazing, and the effects and CGI weren't horrible. For me, the movie certainly lived up to the hype and excitemen. In fact, it nearly exceeded them. I had previously seen one other movie of Redmayne's, Jupiter Ascending, and he played a villain compared to Fantastic Beasts' protagonist. I hadn't even recognized him and when I did, I admired his skills in acting. There was an ongoing, underlining theme of abuse in the film, but I feel that instead of retracting from the quality of the film, it increased it.
