Rice University Owls
Rice University is located in Houston, Texas. It was founded in 1912 by William Marsh Rice.
It has an acceptance rate of 16% and had 7,022 students as of fall 2017. The university
has a very high level of research activity: $140.2 million in sponsored research funding.
Rice is organized into eleven residential colleges and eight schools of academic study. Undergraduates
choose from more than fifty majors and two dozen minors and have a high level of flexibility
in pursuing multiple degree programs. Rice also competes in 14 NCAA Division I varsity sports.
